Less than Truckload shipping company in Hoboken, NJ

Statistics from the US Department of Transportation show more than 700,000 registered motor carriers are traversing our highways and roads. These trucks, which can be packed with everything from bricks and stone to dog food and grocery items, keep thousands of American businesses afloat. For business owners shipping these products across the country, precise planning and high-level tracking are required. But with increasing rates and a wide range of delays to overcome, overseeing a shipment of LTL freight is easier said than done.

For overworked business owners, managing multiple shipments can seem impossible in today's freight landscape. But the reality is that many businesses rely on less-than-truckload shipments to keep their doors open. When these shipments are compromised, their business is too. But there's a viable solution: LTL freight brokers in Hoboken, NJ like RelyEx provide reliable solutions to common LTL shipment problems, eliminating the stress and worry of LTL shipping.

With more than 30 combined years of LTL experience and a solutions-oriented team, RelyEx is your go-to choice for streamlined, efficient LTL shipping services. To understand the true value of RelyEx's less-than-truckload shipping options, it helps to understand first what LTL shipping is and why it's used.

ShippingThe Basics of LTL Freight Shipping

In the freight industry, LTL stands for "less-than-truckload." It is a widely-used method of transportation for smaller shipments that don't require the space of a full truckload. In an LTL shipment, several customers' loads are placed onto one truck, which helps reduce how much it costs to ship those products.

In fact, if your freight doesn't fill an entire trailer but weighs 150-15,000 lbs., LTL freight shipping in Hoboken, NJ, may be the most efficient, cost-conscious way to transport your products. That's because, in an LTL setup, you're only paying for the space your freight takes up. LTL shipping companies like RelyEx optimize LTL loads by choosing the most efficient routes at the best rates so your cargo gets to where it needs to go without any issues.

Business owners often choose LTL freight services in the following circumstances:

  • When freight is dense, large, or bulky
  • Freight exceeds a weight of 150 pounds
  • Crated or palletized shipments
  • When freight passes through distribution centers and local terminals
  • When a cost-effective freight solution is needed
  • When an entire tractor-trailer isn't needed for shipments

When it comes to LTL delivery options, there are a lot to choose from. But not every LTL broker is created equally. Some LTL companies do not have the tools or technology to track your shipments and optimize your routes. In worst-case scenarios, they may not be insured or reliable. If you're looking for an experienced LTL carrier that exceeds expectations with time-tested strategies and innovative technologies, look no further than RelyEx.

Popular Methods of Shipping LTL Freight in Hoboken, NJ

Depending on where and how often you ship LTL freight, your broker may choose a regional or national LTL carrier. Regional carriers often service a group of states within a region. National carriers have a larger footprint and can often eliminate the need to use several carriers for your shipments. RelyEx has the infrastructure and strategies for all of your LTL shipping - contact our office today to learn more about your options.

Though regional and national carriers are different, they often use similar models for shipping. Two of the most popular types of shipping methods include hub and spoke distribution and LTL consolidation.

 LTL Shipping Partner Hoboken, NJ

What is Hub and Spoke LTL Freight Shipping?

In this traditional model, your shipments go through a network of warehouses, terminals, and hub facilities where your products are grouped with other shipments. Your freight then travels to local "spokes" (or terminals), where they are delivered. If you need to ship freight over short distances, this model may be a good choice to consider.

Some common benefits of the hub and spoke model include:

  • Economical and efficient
  • Improved pickup times
  • More regular delivery times
  • More visibility and easy tracking

What is Consolidated LTL Freight Shipping?

LTL consolidated shipping is a model where LTL carriers bring several shipments from different shippers to a final destination. Instead of using hubs and spokes along the shipping route to bundle freight and move cargo, LTL consolidation works by taking multiple shipments and turning them into a single truckload. This truck then makes multiple stops, where your products are delivered.

Some of the most common benefits of LTL consolidation include:

  • Less freight handling
  • Good for fragile or large freight
  • Fewer claims
  • Less cargo damage
  • Cost-effective pricing

At RelyEx, our goal is to expertly manage the movement of your freight so you can focus on your core business. With more than 20 years of combined experience with LTL freight shipping in Hoboken, NJ, our team can select the most efficient and cost-effective model for your needs. That way, you can accomplish your day-to-day tasks while we handle the heavy lifting and any logistical challenges.

An LTL Shipping Partner You Can Trust

At RelyEx, we believe that trustworthy, comprehensive, and streamlined LTL shipping options are better for your business. And for us, what's better for your business is better for ours. That's why, when it comes to LTL shipping, we work tirelessly to ensure every aspect of your freight experience is embedded excellence. We take this unique approach because our management were once customers like you. They were people who, for one reason or another, had to deal with frustrating and often unsolved shipping and logistics challenges. Today, we take pride in solving those challenges and only partner with carriers who match our high standards.

If you're looking for an LTL company in Hoboken, NJ that prioritizes customer service, strong communication, and proactive thinking, we're here to help you avoid delayed shipments and missed expectations.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The Colleen Hoover novel "It Ends With Us" isn't your standard romance book; it's won praise for tackling the subtleties of domestic abuse. Now, readers are excited that it will be a film too, and were pleased to catch glimpses of stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni on set last week in Hoboken and Jersey City.

Lively and other cast members will return to the mile-square city of Hoboken this coming Wednesday (May 24), a source said.

They'll film new scenes at a corner flower shop, "Lily Bloom's":

Earlier this month, a corner art gallery in Hoboken, Field Colony — which has been used in other films — was transformed into a "dusty cafe" called Maya & Maxim. This week, the set designers have changed it around, adding tchotchkes and flowers. (There's also an existing flower shop just around the corner, Beethoven's Verdana.)

The film takes place in Boston in winter, so expect to see cast members in heavy coats amid a predicted high temperature of 75.

See more photos from the set above and below, and a story from last week here.

Lively (As Lily) Will Return

As residents keep an eye out for stars on Wednesday, Hoboken drivers should keep an eye out for the tow truck: "No Parking" signs have been placed along part of 10th Street, saying to avoid parking there from Wednesday at 6 a.m. through Friday.

The Plot

In the film, Lively stars as a recent college graduate who falls in love with a surgeon, played by Baldoni. Amid various twists and turns, she opens a flower shop and pursues her dreams.

Crews began transforming Field Colony earlier this month into a cafe called Maya & Maxim:

The production is headquartered in Jersey City.

The Field Colony art gallery was also used for the filming of "The Kill Room" in May 2022.

At the time, both Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson were spotted there. See photos from that film here.

A new thrift store in town, Thrifted by J & D, is already seeing serial shoppers raid the racks more than once a week after opening last month. And there’s a good reason why — Thrifted by J & D has items shoppers won’t find anywhere else. The thrift shop, located at 526 Adams Street, is run by a married couple who are excited to bring thrifting in Hoboken and Jersey City to a whole other level. Read on to learn more about Hoboken’s own Thrifted by J & D.

Owners Derrick Ladson and Jason Quinones lucked out when it came to finding a location in Hoboken for their shop. Derrick’s cousin owns the convenience store around the corner and put the duo in touch with the landlord who was looking for new owners for 526 Adams Street. The location previously was home to a locksmith where he stored his equipment.

Even though working on opening the store began in January — the grand opening was April 1st — they previously started selling items on eBay and Poshmark. Jason explained to The Hoboken Girl, “This is something that’s been fun for me throughout the years, thrifting. And it was a stress reliever and I always wanted to be in the fashion industry….We sold a lot of home decorative stuff and shoes, but it was always tougher to sell like the more fashionable clothing. So that was the push for us to get the retail space and kind of just follow my dream.”

What the owners also lucked out in was finding items to fill the store. Over the years, they’ve collected things that have been stored in their storage units. Jason shared, “A lot is from New York because that’s where I worked. So I would finish my shift and then just go thrifting, go down to Brooklyn, go down to the village area, Alphabet City. I would just pull stuff that I would like, whether it was for me personally or for a woman or for a child.”

Thrifted by J & D has lots of surprises and unique finds. Inside, shoppers can find vintage music players, DVDs, wine glasses, jewelry, sneakers and shoes, and handbags among other things. There is also a variety of designers featured such as Adidas, Madewell, Zara, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Coach, and Michael Kors, However, the spot focuses on highlighting men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing.

Derrick told HG, “I mean really the clothing is like our thing because we’re both really big on fashion. We know how important it is. When you look good, you feel good and we wanna make sure that everyone can afford to look good.”

There are items on the very low-end to the most expensive items costing $800 (such as a black Canada Goose parka and Dries Van Noten knee-high boots). Derrick shared, “I mean, you can get a pair of jeans for like $12, $15. You know, sometimes you can get a pair of sneakers for $8. I mean, we do have some higher-end things, but online or in the store you’re going to pay $150 whereas we have them for like $75, $80 bucks.”

Jason added, “You will find luxury items here at thrift store prices. You will find the lower brands that everybody can get, but at even phenomenal prices. And a lot of the stuff that we curate is worn maybe once or twice if at all, or brand new with tags.”

Derrick and Jason, both 39 years old, have a fascinating story about themselves. They both were born and raised in Hoboken, priding themself on being Hoboken alum. In 2002, they started dating during their junior year in high school. They then separated and rekindled their relationship 10 years later. They are now going on 13 years strong and got married three years ago.

Owners Derrick Ladson + Jason Quinones

Derrick brings his creative background to the new shop. He’s a teacher, dancer, and choreographer. He works at Elysian Charter School and Mile Square Theatre. Meanwhile, Jason has worked at retailers like Armani Exchange and at Starbucks for the past 20 years where he was a store manager. He quit Starbucks so that he could focus his full time on Thrifted.

Thrifted by J & D joins the list of other thrift shops in the area, including Vintage on First, Revival Vintage, St. Mary’s Advocates, and Hoboken Modern. Jason explained to The Hoboken Girl what makes their shop unique: “I would say it’s unique because we wanted to bring a modern industrial Manhattan village feel to Hoboken so that you don’t have to go to the city to find something great. Also, I feel like we’re more unique in the sense that we really curate through our inventory to ensure that we’re bringing the best quality product to our customers that is still fresh and new rather than a little more worn.”

Since opening in April, the owners say that “every day gets better and better.” The store is being talked about on social media and word of mouth — “Hey, did you walk into the new thrift store here in town? They have really fun treasures.”

HOBOKEN, NJ — Battle lines are being drawn in the upcoming elections to represent Hoboken's six wards on the nine-member City Council.

The election will be held Nov. 7. Since the elections are non-partisan, there will be no primaries. Candidates can file to run by the end of August.

A week ago — on Friday, May 12 — incumbent 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher announced she will run for re-election, and will hold a fundraiser this Tuesday night (more details are below).

Fisher has been an independent voice on the council, sometimes siding with Mayor Ravi Bhalla, but also emerging as one of few elected officials willing to criticize his administration.

Marla Decker announced last Monday that she will challenge Fisher, and has received Bhalla's endorsement. She will hold a fundraiser in June.

Among other issues, Fisher has spoken out about a proposed cannabis dispensary on a prominent corner of her ward, saying that she's not against dispensaries, but she has a problem with location and political ties of the business. READ MORE: Story Dispensary Takes Step Forward

Marla Decker's Announcement

Marla Decker Announces Her Candidacy for Hoboken 2nd Ward Council

Marla Decker today announced her candidacy for the 2nd Ward Hoboken City Council seat. A long time 2nd Ward resident and community leader, Ms. Decker has served as President of the Hudson Tea Condo Association, Treasurer of the Hoboken Democratic Party, and an active participant in the Rebuild by Design community feedback process, and the successful fight to secure Union Dry Dock as public space. She initiated and organized with the assistance of City Hall, the Rent for Refugees program, helping Ukrainian refugees with new housing, food and other necessities.

“I love this community and want to see it thrive,” said Marla Decker. “As a City Councilperson, I will be a bridge builder and problem solver, forging solutions, not creating counterproductive divisions and engaging in political grandstanding.”

Among Ms. Decker’s priorities are neighborhood safety and maintenance issues, ensuring that community feedback shapes the design of the planned park at Union Dry Dock, securing upgrades on the waterfront at the former Monarch site, curbing flooding through the implementation of Rebuild by Design and other measures, and keeping Hoboken on a fiscally responsible path.

“I strongly support Marla Decker for 2nd Ward Council because she is the kind of pragmatic problem-solver we need on the City Council,” said Mayor of Hoboken Ravi Bhalla. “Marla’s smarts, new energy and ability to find common ground will make her a tremendous asset on the Council, better enabling us to keep Hoboken moving in the right direction.”

Council President Emily Jabbour said, "Marla Decker's talent for bringing people together, her pragmatic, common-sense approach to solving problems, and her dedication to bringing about quality of life improvements for residents of the 2nd Ward and throughout Hoboken are exactly what we need. I enthusiastically endorse Marla Decker for 2nd Ward Council." The founder of the Hudson County Chapter of Moms Demand Action, Jabbour noted that Marla Decker is an effective and active volunteer in the organization's advocacy of common sense gun safety measures.

Marla Decker is an attorney with years of litigation experience. She is now an owner and Managing Director for a private equity style fund that invests in litigation. Ms. Decker graduated from Cornell University and received her law degree from Cardozo School of Law. She and her husband have two sons, ages 13 and 11, who attend Hoboken Middle School and Wallace Elementary School. Marla is a supporter and volunteer of the Hoboken Public Education Foundation.

She pledges to conduct an active grassroots campaign reaching out to all voters in the 2nd Ward and looks forward to listening to their concerns and ideas.

A kick-off fundraiser is scheduled for June 14 at 7 pm at City Bistro, 56 14th Street.

Tiffanie Fisher's Announcement (from her newsletter)

It has been my highest honor and privilege to represent my 2nd Ward and Hoboken neighbors on City Council these past what are now almost eight years. When I look back and see all that we have accomplished together, I know it is because of your willingness to engage and partner with me on issues important to our community, and important to you.

It is with this continuing partnership and your support that I am excited to announce:

I am running for re-election so we can finish the important work we have started and ensure the brightest future possible for our community.

I would love for you to join me on Tuesday, May 23rd at Urban Coal House to help me kick off my re-election campaign!

With this campaign comes a new photo and renewed energy, but the heart of my campaign remains the same:

In 2015, when I first ran for office, these words were front and center in my view of what public service and running for office meant and they still hold true today. Public service and good governance is a partnership between those who are elected and those who elect them. Our community is stronger when we work together. And over these past eight years, I am so proud of how we have continued to engage, inform and advocate together and the track record of accomplishments we have built as a result. To name just a few,

As your neighbor, I believe Hoboken residents and taxpayers deserve a representative who will always be working and advocating for them. Who listens and engages. Who will be transparent and informative on all issues. Who has the interest, commitment and experience to tackle the big and the small issues Hoboken residents are facing today and in the future. Who will admit to mistakes and work even harder to fix them. Who believes more voices gives us the best chance for the best outcome.

And who is not a rubber stamp, but the independent voice you can count on who will ask tough questions and always vote Hoboken first. As your council representative today, if you re-elect me in November, I promise to continue to be that advocate for you.

What lies ahead for our community includes big opportunities, and even bigger challenges. I am ready to keep my sleeves rolled up, if you will join me, to finish what we started, bring better focus to everyday quality of life concerns and tackle some of the biggest issues Hoboken has ever faced including:

Our Hoboken is a small town with the challenges of a big city and we need leadership who always supports what is best for Hoboken... My agenda is simple, as it has been for the past eight years.

I hope you will join me on the 23rd.
